Position Overview

The Lead Membership Sales Representative is responsible for driving membership sales, creating an energetic first impression for prospective members, and supporting the leadership team in day-to-day sales execution. This role serves as a key example for the Membership Sales Representative team by demonstrating strong sales behaviors, excellent customer service, and consistent follow-up with leads and prospects. This position also plays an important role in promoting Group Fitness by educating prospects and members on class offerings, instructor energy, schedules, and the value Group Fitness brings to the overall member experience. This role offers strong upward growth opportunities across multiple verticals within the fitness business, including membership sales, operations, personal training, group fitness, and leadership development.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new membership sales through lead outreach, walk-ins, referrals, community events, and follow-up calls.
  • Create a welcoming, high-energy experience for all guests, prospects, and members.
  • Conduct club tours, present membership options, overcome objections, and close sales.
  • Highlight Group Fitness offerings during tours, including class variety, instructor experience, class schedules, and how classes help members stay engaged.
  • Promote Group Fitness as a key part of the member experience and a tool to support retention, community, and results.
  • Encourage new members to try Group Fitness classes and help connect them to options that fit their goals and comfort level.
  • Support the Membership Sales Representative team by modeling strong sales behaviors and daily execution.
  • Assist with lead management, confirmation calls, appointment setting, and follow-up cadence.
  • Help maintain daily sales goals, activity expectations, and team accountability.
  • Support local marketing efforts, community outreach, and event execution.
  • Partner with club leadership to identify opportunities to improve sales performance.
  • Demonstrate readiness for upward growth by taking ownership of results, team support, member experience, and daily execution.
  • Ensure all membership agreements, guest information, and sales documentation are completed accurately.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of club amenities, membership options, promotions, pricing, and Group Fitness programming.
  • Help create a positive team culture focused on energy, urgency, ownership, and results.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a service-oriented position preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate proficiency in reading and writing skills required.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • CPR/AED certification required (can be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • Previous sales, customer service, or fitness industry experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to lead by example and motivate others.
  • Comfortable making phone calls, following up with leads, and asking for the sale.
  • Positive attitude, high energy, and strong sense of urgency.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in growing a career within the fitness industry across sales, operations, personal training, group fitness, or leadership.
  • Passion for fitness, people, Group Fitness, and helping grow the business.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical effort required for daily duties includes prolonged standing and walking.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Travel

  • No travel required.

Compensation (Hourly)

  • $14.50 - $16.50 Hourly + Commission.
