Responsibilities
- Independently conducts advanced analyses of body fluids and tissues.
- Affirms the accuracy of all analytical data before results are released for patient diagnosis and treatment purposes.
- Interprets information by applying judgment and making decisions based on technical procedures and instrumentation.
- Possesses an understanding of how to correlate medical data, recognize links between various laboratory parameters, consider physiological influences, and understand how different medications and treatments may impact results.
- Develops and reviews quality control measures, examines peer data, and participates in proficiency testing.
- Troubleshoots issues by analyzing complex information.
- Validates methods and ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory activities.
- Engages in ongoing education and competency development to stay updated within the field.
- Provides training for new team members and students, fulfilling competency and mandatory educational requirements.
- Communicates updates and offers clinical guidance and leadership to colleagues.
- Keeps quality control and instrument records in accordance with accrediting agency standards, ensuring documentation is readily available to all technical staff and inspectors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (Required)
- ASCP (or equivalent AMT) certification required within two years of hire.
- Minimum two years’ experience in patient care or clinical laboratory settings.
