Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the Role

Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro in San Pedro, CA. This position is full-time and will work 8-hour, Day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the day-to-day operations of the Transfusion Service Section of the Transfusion Medicine Division
• Ensures that all procedures are performed as defined in the section policy and procedure manuals as approved by the Transfusion Medicine Medical Director
• Oversees all Transfusion Service Clinical Laboratory Scientists, students and ancillary personnel within the department
• Performs all duties of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist
• Acts as the supervisor of the department in the absence of the Transfusion Medicine Supervisor

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related health science field
• Upon hire: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California, or California Clinical Chemist Scientist License, or California Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License, or California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License, or California Clinical Toxicologist Scientist License, or California Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License, or California Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License, or California Clinical Hematology Scientist License, or California Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist License, or California Clinical Laboratory Scientist Biochemistry Special License
• 1 year experience in a hospital laboratory in area of responsibility
• 4 years must meet CLIA requirements for testing personnel, moderate to high complexity tests: experience in respective specialty

Preferred Qualifications

• Upon hire: MT (ASCP) SBB or equivalent certification
• Experience with Sunquest Information System

Pay

$64.67 - $102.10 per hour. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
