Lead Medical Lab Scientist, Evenings

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Leading all aspects of operation in assigned section/team/department
• Preparation and maintenance of records, reports, policies and procedures
• Analysis of testing methodologies
• Employee training/staffing
• Technical oversight
• Compliance
• Works in collaboration with team members to ensure coordination with management
• Aid with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, and maintenance within assigned area
• Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating and preventing disease

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Sufficient college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy testing and certification requirements as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• A bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or a life/biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) is preferred

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

• Three (3) years of hospital experience required

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists), or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations
• AAB provisional certification is not accepted
