Lead Medical Assistant, Gastroenterology
Purpose & Scope
Serves as a resource for Medical Assistants. The Lead Medical Assistant provides general administrative and clinical support to physicians and other practitioners. She or he ensures the clinical environment is cleaned, stocked, and ready for patient care and that medical supplies are maintained at all times. The Lead Medical Assistant assists with intake and patient flow; takes vital signs, and performs office procedures per department protocol. She/he is responsible for accurately documenting clinical activities, per procedure.

Responsibilities
- Provides administrative and clinical support to physicians and other practitioners.
- Ensures the clinical environment is cleaned, stocked, and ready for patient care.
- Maintains medical supplies and equipment.
- Aids in intake and patient flow management.
- Takes vital signs and performs office procedures according to department protocols.
- Accurately documents clinical activities per procedure.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- College diploma or certificate preferred.
- Two years of healthcare/medical - primary care/office experience required.
- Certification/Licensure: Medical Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant Credential to be obtained within six months. BLS certification required.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. College diploma or certificate is preferred.
Skills
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is also required.
