About the role
The Lead Mechanical Engineer reports directly to the Chief Engineer and works closely with the facilities maintenance staff and outside vendors to ensure the efficient operation of the building's mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the proper operation of all mechanical building equipment and systems
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain Siemens, Schneider Electric, and/or Johnson Controls BMS control systems
- Recommend necessary parts and supplies for maintenance work and spare inventory
- Maintain accurate records for mechanical work performed within the building
- Cookordination with vendors to support ongoing HVAC preventive maintenance programs
- Monitor and maintain building management and data acquisition systems
- Maintain sequences of operation (SOO) and preventive maintenance procedures for all mechanical equipment
- Coordinate with vendors to support ongoing HVAC preventive maintenance programs

- Participate in planning and managing construction activities
- Aid in scheduling work orders, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities
- Identify and troubleshoot malfunctions or causes of breakdowns in mechanical equipment
- Repair or replace faulty parts, subassemblies, and major components, then re-test equipment to ensure proper operation
- Install, repair, adjust, service, and maintain low-voltage electrical control systems used for HVAC and refrigeration systems, including calibration of related instruments, gauges, and controls
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Graduate of a technical or trade school
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience within the past ten (10) years performing mechanical and electrical maintenance
- Must have hands-on experience working with Siemens and/or Schneider Electric control systems
- Experience with Johnson Controls BMS systems strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and HVAC controls technology
- Ability to read blueprints and control sequences with a strong understanding of applicable codes and regulations
- Experience supervising and coordinating mechanical contractors
- Familiarity with building management systems in facilities of similar size and scope
- Experience with Energy Management Systems (EMS) and related software programs
- Understanding of information technologies related to data center operations, including networking, cabling, and equipment best practices
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Preferred certifications/licenses: Electrical and/or HVAC License, BMS Controls Certification or factory training with Siemens, Schneider Electric, or Johnson Controls
