Equipment includes but is not limited to wheel loaders, excavators, skid steers, forklifts, man lifts, and grinders. The Mechanic should have demonstrable work practices with safety as the number one goal. You will perform appropriate preventive maintenance on equipment and necessary repairs to keep machines up and running daily. Reports To Shop Manager Essential Job Duties Perform services, diagnostics, and parts replacement for company fleetIdentify problems and come up with viable solutionsService conveyers and various sorting equipmentMay perform training to the other mechanics; oversees overall performance and makes recommendations to the managerMay be responsible for reports and documentationOther duties as assigned Scope Of Responsibility This role is a working lead responsible for overseeing daily maintenance and repair activities for fleet equipment while actively performing mechanical work. The Lead Mechanic provides guidance and training to mechanics, monitors work quality and safety compliance, and makes performance recommendations to management. Decisions made in this role directly impact equipment uptime, safety, and operational efficiency. , Knowledge And Skill Requirements Work in a team environmentFull-time position with overtime opportunitiesMust have own tools (large impact tools will be provided)Able and willing to learn computer tracking softwareAble and willing maintain a clean work environmentASE certifications and/or vocational/technical training are a plusAbility to work in all weather conditionsDiagnostic and problem-solving skills preferredGood hand-eye coordination and manual dexterityAbility to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic schematics Education & Experience Waste industry experience, a plusCompletion of college or vocational or technical training, a plus Experience with routine maintenance operations is requiredA valid CDL driver license is a plus Must be 21 years of age, or older Physical Demands & Work Environment Handling heavy tools and parts, sometimes lifting up to 70 pounds. Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and working in awkward positions. Fine motor skills for handling small parts and tools. Typically work in garages or workshops, which may be noisy, have unpleasant odors, a limited ventilation. Exposure to chemicals, oils, and other hazardous substances. Often required to wear protective gear, such as gloves and safety glasses. May be required to lift up to 75 pounds.
