Lead Mechanic

About the role

Alltown Bus Service is seeking a Lead Mechanic to provide guidance to lower-level technicians in vehicle repair and technical inspection techniques and procedures. The position involves performing mechanical repairs and services, motor and gear box changes, and maintenance. The Lead Mechanic also contributes to daily start-up and monthly department meetings, manages and monitors repair operations, participates in training programs, and directs maintenance mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Performs mechanical repairs and services to equipment daily.
• Performs motor and gear box changes and maintenance.
• Contributes to daily start-up and monthly department meetings ensuring thorough communication to associates.
• Manages and monitors the performance and efficiency of repair operations.
• Participates actively in technical and safety training programs.
• Directs Maintenance Mechanics to maintain plant equipment safely and properly with the goal of 100% reliability and minimum downtime for unexpected repairs.
• Covers operations and maintenance positions as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of transportation mechanic experience.
• A high school diploma.

Pay

Pay range: $30-$40 per hour depending on experience.
