Lead Mechanic

About the role

Under the direction of the Supervisor-Transportation, oversee evening shift operations, participate in major and minor repairs of school buses and a variety of District automotive and mechanical equipment, perform journey-level repair, maintenance and overhaul of gasoline and diesel engines in District vehicles including buses and trucks; plan, assign and review the work of others during an assigned shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level repair, maintenance, and overhaul of gasoline and diesel engines in District vehicles (buses, trucks).
• Plan, assign, and review the work of others during an assigned shift.

Requirements

• Three years of journey-level mechanical maintenance experience (or equivalent combination).

Qualifications

• Valid California Class B driver's license.
• Must maintain insurability at the District's standard rate during employment.

Pay

Salary Step 1: $34.74 – Step 5: $42.24 (Hourly); Step 1: $6,022 – Step 5: $7,322 (Monthly, Full-Time).

Schedule

Full-time, 12 months per year, Monday‑Friday 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM.
