Lead Material Specialist - BNA

Assists the Manager, Materials in the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring an adequate supply of materials for aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, compute time cards, and train team members.
• Maintain inventory levels and work with other departments and stakeholders.
• Receive, sign for, process, and safely handle aircraft maintenance-related parts, material, equipment, and tooling, including entering data into the inventory management system.
• Transport parts and materials between locations, sort and count items, and prepare labels and related ticketing documents.
• Appropriately issue materials and process returns.
• Read and interpret documents or instructions to build kits for aircraft heavy maintenance, including assembling parts and materials, performing physical inventory counts, rotating shelf life-limited parts, reorganizing inventory, and re-labeling bins.
• Enter outstation inventory transactions into the inventory management system.
• Package items for shipment and coordinate with shipping vendors for pick-up.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized stores area.
• Perform data entry into the computer inventory system, including locating, issuing, receiving, and shipping materials.
• Perform inventory audits, inspections, and reconciliations as directed by leadership.
• Monitor and update stock items, minimum and maximum stock levels, and coordinate adjustments with Maintenance, Purchasing, and other departments.
• Operate a variety of equipment, including forklifts, trucks, tractors, tugs, and electric carts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified forklift operator.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience working in an Airline Stores environment.
• Inventory management and rotations experience.
• Knowledgeable and capable of using Microsoft Office Suite at an intermediate level.
• Must successfully pass in-house training, IATA, or DOT-approved Hazardous Materials Training.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English to receive and understand instructions, directives, and ensure safety.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of inventory management and computer inventory management systems/barcoding systems preferred.
• Excellent verbal (telephone) communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Travel may be required to deliver parts to other stations.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, climb, and use hands and fingers to operate tools.
• May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.
• May be required to work various shifts in a 24-hour environment.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Exposure to extreme noise (e.g., airports with planes, vehicles, and machinery), temperature, wind, and light fluctuations.
• Ability to work in confined areas and sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
• Ability to wear personal protective gear.
• Some travel may be required.

Pay

Starting wage: $24.97 per hour (in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement).
