Lead Material Handler - All Shifts!

About the role
Maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping; ensure all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded properly; perform duties to provide material handling services for warehouse shipping and receiving handling activities. Ensure that Material Handlers are operating forklift and walkies safely at all times following all safety policies and procedures. This position reports to the shift supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Properly receive, unload, move, and tag incoming parts and equipment.
- Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).
- Knowledge of QMS (Quality Management Systems) and Lean Warehousing.
- Operate material handling equipment and use an RF scanner.
- Pull and stage parts for production and complete requisitions for parts shortages.
- Collect and properly package inventory and purchased items needing shipment.
- Comply with the company's safety policies while using lifting devices (forklifts and scissor lifts) and clean initiative standards.
- Learn day-to-day warehouse operations.
- Verify orders are complete and accurate.
- Pick each customer order in the most effective manner possible to minimize shipping costs and ensure product safety.
- Possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and be able to work with limited supervision.
- General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
- Ability to work as part of a team and lead.
- Read, write, and understand English.
- Attention to detail and quality.
- Good communication, clear and concise problem resolution, and people skills.
- Flexibility in working overtime when needed and supplying coverage to other shifts.
- Major experience on sit-down forklifts and walkies.
- Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders.
- Experienced in cross-docking freight process.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse.
Requirements
- 2-4 years in a warehouse environment.
- Good stable work and attendance record.
- High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED).
- Warehousing certifications a plus.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective action.
- Knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, and Spreadsheet software.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
- Must be able to be on feet for a full shift (8 hours).
- Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
- Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment will range from quiet to moderately loud.
Schedule
- A shift: Monday - Thursday 5a-3:30pm
- B shift: Wednesday - Saturday 5a-3:30pm
- C shift: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat 5a-3:30pm
- D shift: Tuesday - Friday 4pm - 2:30am
- E shift: Sunday - Wednesday 4pm - 2:30am
Pay
- $22.00 - $24.00 / hour
- Certified/qualified Forklift/Walkie Rider/Cherry Picker drivers will receive an additional $0.50 per hour.
- Certified/qualified Reach Truck drivers will receive an additional $1.00 per hour.
- Attendance Incentive - Up to $2400 bonus for good attendance.
- Referral Bonus - Up to $500 per referral.
- Hiring Bonus - Up to $1000.
- Step increase program - Pay will increase by $0.50 after 90 days and again after 180 days (Material Handlers Only).
