About the Role

Lead Manufacturing Engineer supporting the Continuous Improvement/Manufacturing Engineering department through the creation and maintenance of engineering systems. This role focuses on applying Lean/Six Sigma principles to improve efficiency and effectiveness in Reyes Automotive Group’s manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Plant Manager and Continuous Improvement team with daily tasks.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste (muda) on the production floor and in inventory areas.
  • Lead and develop Manufacturing Engineering interns through training and kaizen activities.
  • Track Continuous Improvement projects daily and weekly.
  • Perform statistical analysis to assess machine capabilities and production trends for predictive outcomes.
  • Develop manufacturing and production processes to reduce costs and improve equipment efficiency.
  • Lead cross-functional Kaizen projects on high-impact business initiatives.
  • Manage launch activities, including pre-launch documentation, trial preparation, post-trial updates, and follow-up.
  • Maintain pre-launch inventory for components, resin, and finished goods.
  • Prepare and track pre-launch orders (EPNS/TPROMS).
  • Create and update the Master Schedule based on Toyota milestones and plant projects.
  • Conduct project status review meetings with management.
  • Train Manufacturing Engineering and intern staff on Lean Manufacturing principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of related experience through job roles, class projects, or internships.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred; Lean Manufacturing Training required.

Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel including Macros, PowerPoint), email, and web browser applications.
  • Fusion 360 and CAD skills preferred.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and critical thinking skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work across all organizational levels and cultures.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.
  • Knowledge of facility and layout design, Toyota Production System, and basic injection molding/auxiliary equipment.
  • Advanced mathematical and statistical skills.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple projects and demands while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, across multiple shifts.
  • 3D printing knowledge preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • 60% desk work (computer, office equipment) and 40% production floor activities.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds individually and team-lift 50 pounds.
  • Work in a climate-controlled environment with potential exposure to heat, rain, and cold.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment and follow safety procedures.
