Lead Logistics Analyst
About the role
A Logistics Analyst coordinates and oversees drivers, trucks, and containers to create capacity, maximize productivity, and ensure prompt, courteous, and efficient service to all customers. This role also oversees safety, customer experience, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all required safety policies and procedures.
- Analyze daily route information and implement changes to improve route standardization, efficiency, and accuracy using the internal routing platform.
- Use routing system visibility to analyze and respond to same-day changes or next-day planning for customer service needs, improving route design by identifying patterns and areas for improvement.
- Ensure all routes are closed on time by verifying data accuracy and making the close route process durable.
- Proactively evaluate and resolve problems that may arise while trucks and drivers are in transit.
- Manage driver safety and security of company assets while providing direction to drivers.
- Collect, interpret, and analyze logistics data (inventory, asset reliability, route data) to increase routing accuracy.
- Maintain constant communication with drivers to evaluate route progress and ensure they have necessary information.
- Evaluate and escalate driver performance issues or concerns for resolution.
- Understand route sequencing to drive efficiency.
- Respond to missed pickups and service commitments by scheduling customers accordingly.
- Evaluate and educate drivers regarding missed pickups and develop strategies to avoid future failures.
- Create routes with maximized capacity and review loads per driver per day to maximize profitability.
- Monitor daily routing activities and resolve issues to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.
- Evaluate and assess the need for swing routes and verify all swing opportunities have been identified.
- Analyze trends in swing percentage to identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor and adjust plans throughout the day to accommodate unexpected changes.
- Understand daily disposal plans to identify optimal disposal sites and hold drivers accountable.
- Discuss disposal plans and recommendations with the Operations Manager and update as needed.
- Determine if service requests can be pulled forward to drive efficiency while maintaining customer experience.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Customer Experience
- Courteously interact with customers as required.
- Design routes to prevent customer service issues and ensure compliance with hours of service and weight regulations.
- Analyze and prioritize customer promises to ensure service commitments are met.
- Update call center communications daily to reduce missed pickups and improve communication between the division and customers.
- Evaluate route issues causing delays and use available tools to communicate with impacted customers.
- Review routing media to process service exceptions, general messages, and extra services to meet customer needs.
- Adhere to and execute universal service commitments to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Ability to understand and execute time-sensitive tasks.
- Experience in a customer-facing position.
- Two years of prior experience in a Dispatcher or similar leadership role (preferred).
