Lead Locate Technician
About the role
The Lead Technician is responsible for leading a group of assigned employees within their team, maintaining and protecting their area of coverage, and following company policies and safety regulations. They are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily scheduling of contractors and sub-contractors
- Route tickets to ensure optimized efficiency
- Develop game plans to achieve daily production targets, providing assistance when needed
- Review prior days' documents and reports
- Ensure daily expectations and safety messages are met and adjusted as necessary
- Audit documents to ensure compliance with client regulations
- Ensure all team members' timesheets are accurate and team members are accounted for
- Locate underground facilities using a transmitter and various equipment, working in diverse terrains and weather conditions
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties
- Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as needed to meet customer needs
- Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage-free environment
- Problem-solve and communicate effectively with others in a supervised team environment
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
- Multiple years of utility locating experience
- Documentation of excellent quality ratio in the locating industry
- Knowledge and experience using multiple types of utility locating equipment
- Ability to problem-solve
- Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
- Vacuum truck experience
- A+ certification
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs
- Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret prints at a high level
Qualifications
- Pass a Background screening (no violations within the last 3 years)
- Pass a DOT drug test
