About the role
A Lead Line Cook at Soho House assists the Sous Chef, Executive Sous, and Executive Chef with inventory, staff supervision, food preparation, and executing quality, consistent dishes. The role involves supervising staff in the absence of the Sous Chef and managing different stations. A successful Lead Line Cook is passionate about food and people, fostering a positive atmosphere in the kitchen while ensuring food safety, quality control, and efficient service.
Responsibilities
- Produce consistent and quality dishes in fast-paced, demanding environments, with in-depth knowledge of all menu items.
- Assist with inventory and purchasing to maintain sustainable food costs.
- Oversee wastage, cooking temperatures, and quality to reduce costs and educate staff on product value and its impact on profit and loss.
- Execute production and à-la-carte dishes, including weekend feast ideas and family meals.
- Supervise line staff, delegate tasks, and ensure proper procedures for clocking in/out and breaks.
- Support the Executive Chef and Executive Sous with end-of-shift reports and handover sheets.
- Maintain company target goals and Soho House Standards for service (3-8-10).
- Act as a positive influencer under pressure, fostering a welcoming work environment to boost staff morale.
- Train and educate new and existing team members on “Cook House.”
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 to 4+ years of kitchen experience with proven leadership within previous teams.
- Proven ability/experience managing all stations on the line.
- Food handler’s certificate.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and motivation skills to build professional relationships with leaders and kitchen staff.
- Proactive team-player who can work independently as well as on a team.
- Flexible schedule with availability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to multitask in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Creativity to develop recipes from scratch.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
- Capable of working on your feet for at least 8 hours.
- Fast-paced movements required to navigate different parts of the club.
- Ability to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
- Occasional kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing as required.
