About the role

HealthFitness is seeking a full-time, 40 hours per week, Lead Lifeguard to assist with oversight at our facility in Hartford, CT. This dynamic aquatics leadership role is ideal for someone passionate about safety, service, and creating great experiences for the community.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and friendly environment for all aquatic facility members and guests by performing Lifeguard surveillance, enforcing policies and following all regulations and procedures.
  • Quickly handle all injuries/incidents that occur during your shift, fill out incident/accident reports, and administer first aid as needed.
  • Enforce and explain rules as necessary.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and training.
  • Report any broken or dysfunctional equipment immediately via incident report.
  • Be familiar with all schedules and any posted changes for all facilities.
  • Act as manager on duty in absence of other leadership.
  • Schedule swim instructors and fill in when lifeguards and swim instructors are unable to make their shifts.
  • Assist Aquatics Supervisor with the implementation of various programs and initiatives.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School Diploma/GED.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • A high level of emotional maturity.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in all skills pertinent to that area.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to navigate electronic onboarding and timecard systems required.

Preferred

  • 4+ years of experience as a lifeguard preferred including 2 years of previous supervisory experience.
  • Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred.
  • ARC Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.

Compensation

$25.00-$26.00 per hour. Pay is dependent on experience and qualifications. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
