Job Summary Obtains blood specimens in an inpatient and outpatient setting following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements. Obtains specimens in an inpatient and outpatient setting requiring special collection procedures following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements. Diagnostic electrocardiogram on outpatients and Therapeutic INR QC and testing procedures. Urine collection and processingSpecimen collections other than blood or urine. Labels, receives, and distributes specimens in the laboratory. Trains Lab AssistantsEnsures quality control, maintenance, and performance improvement indicators are documentedAssist supervisor and coordinator with general management functionsOrders supplies and equipment for the section, being mindful of expiration dates and appropriate quantities. Qualifications Education High school education or equivalent GED. Requires some knowledge of medical terminology. Experience 1 year of phlebotomy experience or 1 year of experience in a medical field providing patient care (such as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, nurse technician, etc.) which included drawing blood. (Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience) Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment. Compensation/Benefits $16.07-$26.25/hr depending on previous work experience.
