This role leads the organization’s internal control environment in alignment with SOX (Sarbanes–Oxley) requirements, corporate governance standards, and broader risk management objectives. The Lead Internal Controls Analyst drives end-to-end SOX compliance, continuous improvement, and proactive identification of control gaps and automation opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and documentation of SOX testing cycles, including walkthroughs, control testing, and remediation validation for assigned processes/controls.
  • Assess control design and operating effectiveness; identify gaps and recommend enhancements.
  • Evaluate remediation plans, test the remediation actions, and track until issue closure.
  • Partner closely with process and control owners across Finance, IT, and Operations to ensure compliance with SOX and internal policies. Suggest process improvements and identify automation opportunities.
  • Maintain and update process documentation, risk and control matrices (RCMs), and testing procedures.
  • Use the AuditBoard platform to enhance efficiency, standardization, and reporting, leveraging its features to drive automation and increase efficiency in testing.
  • Support implementation of new, AI-driven use cases and automation opportunities to enhance SOX program effectiveness.
  • Lead or support other risk assessment activities managed by HC Controllership.
  • Perform controls monitoring across financial and operational process areas to ensure compliance with GEHC policies and procedures.
  • Support monitoring of key controls at non-SOx locations, ensuring consistency and risk coverage.
  • Assist with management of the external audit process, including fee analysis, coordination, and resolution of escalated issues.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to internal audit, external auditors, and global finance leadership.
  • Collaborate with OSP & GEHC team members to achieve departmental and functional priorities.
  • Support the Internal Controls leadership team in providing administrative and functional management of OSP deliverables.
  • Provide data and analysis for leadership updates.
  • Mentor junior analysts on testing techniques, documentation standards, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in SOX, internal controls, public accounting, internal audit, or related risk/compliance roles.
  • Strong understanding of SOX 404 requirements and COSO internal control framework.
  • Exceptional documentation, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Desired Qualifications

  • CPA, CIA, or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience working in a global, multinational organization or Big 4 experience.
  • Experience with AuditBoard is a plus.
  • Experience with process automation, data analytics, or RPA preferred.
  • Strong analytical, collaboration, and communication skills.

Pay

For U.S.-based positions, the pay range for this role is $116,160.00–$174,240.00 annually. Compensation decisions depend on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This position may also be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
