Lead Integration Engineer
Position Summary
The Lead Integration Engineer focuses on leading high-impact projects, mentoring team members, and providing continuous training for the Technology Integrations Team. The team is responsible for successfully implementing corporate office integrations, M365 migrations, application migrations, office moves, closures, and structural consolidation projects. This role requires extensive international and domestic travel to oversee large-scale engineering initiatives directly on-site.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Performance: Provide regular updates and performance feedback regarding the engineering team to senior management; meet with engineers regularly to resolve operational conflicts and foster a collaborative environment.
Daily Workflow Management: Partner with Integration Engineers to efficiently plan their daily schedules, complete technical documentation, update project plans, and manage customer correspondence.
Vendor & Lifecycle Management: Work closely with external vendors to obtain quotes; assist engineers in developing structured migration plans and deployment runbooks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Attend weekly telecom meetings to accurately identify internet circuit requirements. Attend regular alignment meetings with NetOps and Core Engineering teams to ensure integration processes remain fully compliant with system standards.
Engineering Quality Assurance: Train, onboard, and evaluate engineers to ensure they strictly follow organizational standards when configuring networking equipment, monitoring systems, servers, and physical workstation layouts.
Field Supervision: Personally accompany new engineers during initial site surveys, integrations, and office relocation projects to enforce correct procedures.
Tech Governance & Change Management: Represent the integration team during ServiceNow Change Management processes. Attend weekly Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings to request, justify, and secure vendor account access. Attend monthly reviews with the Application Management team to document new application deployments and vendor support details. Attend weekly MMD and Device Management meetings to track active system enhancements and application packaging projects.
System Optimization & Security: Monitor and test application performance to isolate potential bottlenecks, engineer appropriate fixes, and maintain proactive security, backup, and business continuity strategies.
Escalation & Professional Development: Serve as the primary escalation support contact for the technology team; perform thorough peer reviews, identify training gaps, and build out quarterly education plans for engineer development.
Talent Acquisition Support: Assist management with reviewing resumes, interviewing, onboarding, and training incoming technical staff.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Leadership Capabilities: Proven ability to lead distributed technical teams with confidence, clarity, and purpose across multiple geographic regions (US, Canada, UK).
Core Microsoft Stack: Deep technical knowledge of Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, Windows 10, Active Directory, Azure, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and Intune.
Advanced Networking: Expert understanding of networking principles (OSI model, TCP/IP), switches, routers, firewalls, and localized LAN/WAN routing at Layer 3.
Migration Tools: Advanced practical knowledge of modern enterprise migration tools such as Mover.io, AvePoint, Syncovery, and Quest; extensive Microsoft Exchange or O365 migration and troubleshooting experience.
Infrastructure Management: Strong background maintaining equipment inventories, hardware lifecycles, and network/server patching best practices.
Virtualization & Monitoring: Hands-on experience working with virtualization frameworks (VMware) and enterprise monitoring platforms (PRTG, Nagios).
Backup & Replication: Experience utilizing enterprise backup systems (Backup Exec, Double-Take, RecoverPoint, Veeam).
Scripting experience is a plus.
Soft Skills & Execution: Outstanding time management, problem-solving, and high-pressure conflict resolution skills. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills to bridge technical details into everyday language for senior leadership and vendors.
Productivity Software: Expert proficiency in Smartsheet, MS Project, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
Education & Experience Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network/Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is highly preferred (not explicitly required).
Experience: 12+ years of progressive experience in a Systems Administration or technical consulting capacity within a Microsoft, Cisco, or Fortinet-based infrastructure environment.
MSP Exposure: Prior experience working within or alongside a Managed Service Provider (MSP) to deliver scalable technology solutions while balancing budget and system functionality constraints.
Preferred Certifications
Possession of one or more active enterprise certifications is strongly preferred (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, Fortinet, or related security credentials).
Travel Credentials
A valid, active Driver's License and an international Passport are mandatory.
