Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a classroom of curious minds (ages 6 weeks to school age) in a safe, nurturing, and playful learning environment.
• Guide daily routines, develop creative lesson plans, and support both children and staff to thrive.
• Assist children with basic care needs – from hand washing to shoe tying.
• Create a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom (including decorating).
• Plan & lead fun, age-appropriate activities using Creative Curriculum.
• Communicate with parents about the day’s big (and tiny) milestones.
• Report any concerns, needs, or magical moments to the Program Director.
• Keep classroom documentation and lesson plans on point with Keystone STARS standards.
• Provide daily activity and meal sheets for each child.
• Float between classrooms when needed to keep ratios safe and smiles big.

Requirements

• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential – required (assistance available to enroll if not yet obtained).
• High School Diploma or GED – required.
• 2,500 hours of verified child care experience – required.
• Two letters of written recommendation – required.
• Clearances (required before start):
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Clearance
  • Department of Human Services Clearance
  • FBI Clearance
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance
  • National Sex Offender Registry Clearance
  • If lived outside Pennsylvania in the last 5 years, also need clearances from those states.
• Health Requirements:
  • Health assessment and TB (Mantoux) test required before first day.
  • New health assessment required every two years.
• Physical Requirements (Can You Do the Wiggle?):
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs (with help for anything heavier).
  • Be on your feet and moving most of the day.
  • Travel between PathWays locations or vendors if needed.
  • Use basic office equipment (computers, printers, etc.).
  • Expect plenty of: sitting, standing, running, walking, crawling, stooping, squatting, occasional dance party; reaching, lifting, jumping, sliding, and maybe even finger painting.
  • Normal vision needed for supervision and documentation.
