About the role

This Lead Infant Teacher opportunity at Little Dippers Doodle Children's Center serves Infant / Toddler (0–2) and requires the appropriate professional qualifications. Based in St. Johnsbury, VT, candidates bring experience in early childhood education and development.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing a classroom
  • Developing a caring, supportive atmosphere for children and their parents
  • Providing an effective learning environment within the classroom with the focus on school readiness skills
  • Ensuring the safety of each child enrolled in the class whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in common areas;
  • Maintaining regular observation and evaluation of children's development and progress as directed by Center Director and Behavior Specialist;
  • Maintaining responsibility on a daily basis for the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and cleanliness of the learning environment of the classroom;
  • Create safe and appropriate diapering, toileting, and handwashing areas and help children with all personal hygiene skills;
  • Plan and implement age and developmentally appropriate classroom practices that will include the areas of physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs of young children.
  • Encourage children's development in the areas of building self-confidence, problem solving, and taking responsibility for their actions;
  • Interact with each child on a daily basis through circle time, centers, snacks, lunchtime, playground, free play, etc.
  • Nurture positive relationships with parents and establish continual communication.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support each classroom and individual child's needs.

Requirements

  • At least 20 years old
  • Vermont Early Childhood career ladder Level three
  • Associate degree in related field (early childhood, human services, etc.)
  • 21 college credits in related field and 12 months experience
  • Experience caring for children
