Lead Housekeeper-Environmental Services-Mount Sinai Morningside-Full Time/Evenings(3pm-11pm)/Every Other Weekend/Holidays

About the Role

Assist shift supervisors and department directors in the day-to-day function of the department. Maintain a high level of quality in all aspects of the department’s duties, supporting supervisors and interacting with department team members. Set a positive example through professional interactions with team members, customers, patients, and families.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of department policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge and efficient use of cleaning techniques, solutions, equipment, and tools.
• Perform all cleaning, floor care, and project assignments within area of responsibility or as directed by supervisor.
• Perform related services, such as bed moves, changing mattresses, stocking supplies, etc.
• Maintain high standards; work steadily at an efficient pace; achieve high QA scores.
• Interact hospitably, cheerfully, and supportively with staff, patients, visitors, and work colleagues.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and storage areas in clean, orderly, and good operating condition.
• Respect Hospital and Company property.
• Respond rapidly and thoroughly to emergencies, special needs, spills, etc.
• Accept suggestions and direction from supervisors and Hospital staff.
• Honor department’s attendance, break, behavior, dress, and safety codes.
• Accept and absorb Department and Hospital education programs.
• Exercise good judgment while working around patients and visitors; remain professional at all times.
• Take initiative in rendering service or responding to needs.
• Assist other associates as necessary and respond to direction as provided.
• Answer telephones in a professional manner.
• Provide quality customer service by addressing details one-on-one.
• Resolve internal/external guest complaints, ensuring satisfaction.
• Assist management in distributing designated keys, rovers, tablets, and pagers to assigned staff; maintain accurate records and ensure security.
• Communicate additions or changes to assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
• Inspect areas to confirm cleaning standards have been met; assist staff with job functions to ensure optimum cleanliness and service standards.
• Assist management in orienting and assisting newer staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and previous experience required.
• Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of office software packages.
• Ability to work well under time constraints.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to work independently.
• Basic knowledge of healthcare infection control procedures and universal precautions.
• Ability to pull and/or push objects in excess of 100 pounds frequently, navigating congested, sometimes sloping hallways or areas.

Skills

• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform simple arithmetic including weights and measures. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Demonstrate safe and correct use of environmental services equipment and chemicals used daily within the department.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
• Frequently required to stand and walk.
• Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $25.4287 - $27.3285 per hour. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
