Lead Housekeeper

About the Role

Join our growing Senior Living Community as a Lead Housekeeper. You will coordinate activities of all Healthcare Center Housekeeping associates on your shift and area of responsibility, providing leadership and support to ensure all housekeeping functions are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role involves maintaining the Health Care Center interior and furnishings in a clean, aseptic, and orderly fashion while promoting the recovery of residents and ensuring a pleasant environment for guests, visitors, and associates.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and leads personnel and self-activities, providing leadership and support in the performance of their duties.
• Arranges for proper coverage of schedules and projects by adjusting the daily schedule to cover unforeseen absences.
• Assigns self to complete regular schedules or project assignments and completes work as directed by the department manager.
• Assists or performs minor services for residents' rooms (e.g., unclogging toilets).
• Maintains effective communications and works to enhance relationships with associates, residents, visitors, and other internal customers.
• Demonstrates pride in a job well done and leads associates by showing personal enthusiasm and commitment.
• Observes and monitors job performance and methods, suggesting quality improvement strategies by soliciting input from associates and customers.
• Reports to the manager on pending projects and actively recommends work practices and procedures while adhering to safety and infection control guidelines.
• Consults with the Housekeeping Manager on associate performance appraisals and advises on situations requiring associate counseling.
• Responsible for associate training and assisting the Manager with the establishment of training programs.
• Oversees supply distribution and usage, notifying the department Manager of shortages or reduction strategies.
• Coordinates the inspection of equipment and storage rooms to ensure clean and safe conditions.
• Promotes effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships, maintaining professional conduct at all times.
• Demonstrates the ability to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively.
• Maintains a positive, supportive attitude toward residents, visitors, and associates consistently.
• Displays patience and tact when dealing with associates and presents the department positively.
• Maintains a courteous and pleasant attitude and ensures confidentiality of patient and departmental information.
• Promotes safe work practices at all times and ensures a safe, clean, and attractive environment for residents and visitors.
• Ensures all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers and adheres to safety regulations.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• 3 years of leadership experience preferred.
• 1-2 years in a leadership position preferred.
• Interest in the welfare of residents and ability to make light conversation while working around residents, visitors, and associates.
• Ability to work around unpleasant odors and illnesses.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.

Environmental and Physical Demands

Physical Activities:

• Frequently: standing, walking, talking, hearing, bending, squatting, reaching, feeling, grasping, reaching with hands and arms, tasting, and smelling.
• Occasionally: sitting, twisting, climbing stairs/ladders, crouching, crawling, or kneeling.

Range of Motion:

• Constantly: able to move from waist to shoulder height.
• Frequently: able to move from shoulder and above and waist and below height.

Weight Lifting Requirements: Being able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Vision Requirements:

• Constantly: monitor and utilize color vision (identifying and distinguishing colors) and ability to adjust focus.
• Occasionally: look at a computer and use peripheral and depth perception.

Environmental Exposure:

• Frequently: exposed to body fluids/blood and required to wear protective clothing.
• Occasionally: exposed to biohazard materials, chemical hazards, and required to operate equipment.
