LEAD HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
About the role
This position provides lead direction in the operation of medium and heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of Washoe County roads and facilities. It also involves performing related work as required.
Responsibilities
- Provides lead direction in the operation of medium and heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of Washoe County roads and facilities.
- Operates heavy equipment as needed.
- Performs snow removal operations in inclement weather conditions.
- Led people or projects in a construction or road maintenance environment.
- Tracks and reports labor, materials, and project data.
Requirements
- Four years of progressively responsible work experience in maintenance and construction work, including at least one year of experience in operating heavy equipment.
- A valid Class A State of Nevada Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement.
Qualifications
- Advanced training and experience with various types of heavy equipment used in a construction environment, preferably in road maintenance.
- Strong organization, planning, time management, prioritizing, and communications skills.

Benefits
The Washoe County Employees Association (WCEA) Non-Supervisory Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) covers the Lead Heavy Equipment Operator position. Employees in this classification, as CDL holders, are subject to drug and alcohol testing according to applicable County policies.
Pay
The starting salary for this position is $50,000 per year, with an annual merit increase of 5% until reaching the maximum salary for the classification.
