Lead Handyman

Key Purpose

The Lead Handyman will support the “Manager” in a safe, efficient, and professional manner with preventative, corrective, and general maintenance for the Client. Other duties include, but not limited to, daily assessments of systems, maintaining a clean working environment, and other various duties as assigned by the Manager, while adhering to all HS&E standards.

Other duties

• Assists other maintenance personnel with repairs to electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, general facility, and grounds infrastructure
• Provides general laborer support

Success Criteria

• Computer Software: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer – general experience
• Able to communicate well with customers, managers, and coworkers
• Strong customer service skills
• Competency with basic hand tools
• Competency with basic power tools
• Able to produce a quality work product in a prompt, safe, and efficient manner

Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years of age
• 3-5 years in Facility Maintenance or related field
• Any trade certificate (desired)
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand and walk at eight-hour intervals with occasional scheduled breaks
• Frequent use arms, hands, and fingers to handle, touch, feel, and reach
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear
• Individual is frequently required to climb stairs and ladders
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds, at higher than chest level
• Must be able to tolerate adverse working conditions due to climate and tolerate extreme temperature changes

Work Environment

• Significant work is performed inside central plant space, within mechanical/electrical rooms, and/or on rooftops
• Periodic noise, heat, and cold exposure
• Some confined space work required
• Some work in common office areas
