Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Responsible for planning, leading and coordinating the landscaping duties of assigned staff in the maintenance of University grounds.
Responsibilities
- Performs grounds maintenance work in accordance with established schedules and in preparation for special events
- Operates, installs, repairs, and maintains grounds equipment and hand tools
- Ensures assignments and projects are properly assigned and complete
- Acts as the lead in the absence of leadership
- Demonstrates and trains employees in safe and proper use of equipment and grounds maintenance
Required Qualifications
- Educational Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent
- Other Required Qualifications: Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license
- Required Experience: Two (2) years grounds maintenance experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred Educational Qualifications: An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
- Preferred Experience: Experience operating landscape equipment, experience leading small crews
Proposed Salary

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- ABILITIES: Able to use sound judgment regarding heavy loads and dangerous situations; Able to identify plants and knowledge of proper care including pruning, planting and watering; Able to perform heavy labor outdoors in all types of weather; Able to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions, interpret campus maps and basic drawings; Able to drive KSU vehicles (i.e. gator, golf carts, etc.) with trailer; Able to use a variety of standard landscape equipment and hand tools safely and efficiently; Able to work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequent changes in priorities; Able to be flexible adapting to frequently changing priorities; Able to follow through and carry out assignments; Able to delegate giving clear and concise directions to staff; ensures the appropriate safety and protective equipment is worn; Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
- KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of maintenance processes, equipment and products; maintaining a safe environment
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills; Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite); Strong attention to detail and follow up skills; Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
