About the role
We’re looking for a Lead Stocker who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and help guide and motivate the grocery warehouse team.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays with groceries and supplies.
- Rotate products and check for expired or damaged items.
- Keep aisles, storage areas, and restrooms clean and safe.
- Sweep, mop, dust, and sanitize throughout the store.
- Help train new and current team members on stocking and cleaning tasks.
- Motivate and guide the team by setting a positive example.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers.
- Follow all safety rules and use cleaning supplies and equipment properly.
- Assist with unloading deliveries and organizing back stock.
- Take pride in keeping the commissary looking great for customers and staff.
Day in the Life
- Start the day by checking in with the team, reviewing priorities, and organizing incoming deliveries before assigning tasks.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays throughout the shift, rotating products to keep everything fresh and organized.
- Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming areas by sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and following proper waste procedures.
- Assist customers by answering questions and helping them find what they need.
- Support team members by offering guidance, answering questions, and helping with training to encourage strong teamwork.
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors to keep operations running smoothly.
- Wrap up the shift by ensuring shelves are stocked, areas are clean, supplies are replenished, and equipment is secured.
- Share any important updates with the supervisor and team to leave the commissary ready for the next day.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working as a stocker, retail sales associate, or in a fast-paced grocery store, retail, warehouse, or similar environment.
- Basic knowledge of stock rotation and inventory practices.
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures, equipment handling, or sanitation practices.
- A friendly, helpful attitude with strong communication skills.
- Valid Real ID and Driver License.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain government base access.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using ladders, pallet jacks, or basic stocking equipment.
- Experience working in temperature-controlled environments such as coolers or freezers.
- Strong attention to detail when stocking, cleaning, or organizing work areas.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and customers.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly when interruptions or new needs arise.
- Ability to guide and give clear directions to team members.
- Dependable and punctual, with a willingness to take initiative.
Physical & Environmental Demands
- Standing and walking for extended periods, often on hard surfaces such as tile or concrete.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, including boxes, cleaning equipment, trash bins, and supply carts.
- Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and crouching to access low shelves, clean under fixtures, and stock items at various heights.
- Climbing ladders or step stools to retrieve or stock items on high shelves or clean hard-to-reach areas.
- Repetitive hand and arm movements required for tasks such as mopping, wiping, stocking, and lifting.
- Good balance, coordination, and stamina to move safely and efficiently in tight or crowded spaces.
- Working in temperature-controlled areas, including coolers, freezers, or warm storage rooms depending on the task.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals such as disinfectants and degreasers, with proper PPE and safety procedures followed.
- Frequent interruptions and shifting between tasks such as cleaning, stocking, and assisting teammates.
- Working in an environment with background noise from carts, vacuums, and general store activity.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, masks, or goggles, depending on the task or chemicals used.
