The Rivian Supply Chain team is seeking experienced and strategic purchasing leaders to support the company's vehicle programs. As a Lead Global Supply Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing, supplier selection, and lifecycle management for Rivian's vehicle programs.
Role Summary

We are looking for a Lead Global Supply Manager to join our team in Irvine, CA. This role involves managing large, cross-commodity strategic projects with significant spend impact, driving category strategies, and negotiating commercial terms.
Responsibilities
- Sourcing: Lead several large, cross-commodity strategic projects with medium-to-high vehicle spend impact. Drive competitive bid processes and category strategy development.
- Systems & Process: Act as an expert user of supply chain systems. Lead and influence the design, rollout, and continuous improvement of strategic supplier management tools, performance management frameworks, and procurement processes.
- Technical Understanding: Apply broad experience across commodity and category strategy to shape approaches supporting next-generation vehicle programs. Identify risks proactively across categories.
- Negotiations: Negotiate most commercial terms with minimal legal involvement. Utilize creative thinking to achieve Rivian targets through non-monetary tradeoffs.
- Supplier Management: Maintain strong relationships with supplier Senior Management. Resolve conflicts with minimal escalation while understanding sub-suppliers through raw materials.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong internal and external relationships. Communicate valuable information to stakeholders to mitigate risk and enable timely decision-making.
- Project Management & Risk Mitigation: Lead large-scale projects with autonomy. Identify and mitigate risks through detailed risk mapping and ensure resolutions are completed.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering; minimum 6 years of direct procurement experience.
- Domain Expertise: Significant experience managing end-to-end procurement lifecycles and a proven ability to drive commodity and category strategies for next-gen platforms; automotive industry experience highly preferred.
- Commodity-Specific Experience: Experience developing and leading category/commodity strategies across multiple domains, not tied to a single commodity portfolio.
- Experience: Building or improving strategic supplier management tools, performance management frameworks, and sourcing processes. Leading corporate-wide initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: Expert user of SAP and analytical tools; ability to identify should-cost opportunities prior to engaging cost estimation groups.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to facilitate productive conversations and gain buy-in with a clear vision.
- Execution: Proven ability to resolve complex problems involving multiple variables and stakeholders; implements comprehensive risk mitigation.
- Operational Style: Acts instinctively to manage and prioritize complex workloads with little manager input; serves as a cross-functional advisor.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $137,800 - $172,200 for Irvine, California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
