About the role

The Lead Global Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading a global Creativity Team. Primary responsibility is to develop and implement sourcing strategies on a global basis by working with cross functional stakeholders to meet sourcing objectives, achieve cost savings deliverables and support supplier development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a robust commodity strategy based on market and technology trends for key commodities
  • Maintain sourcing pipeline and Business Over Time, benchmarking data, CT strategy presentations, global budget and on-time metrics
  • Lead ECT meeting with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Support SMT leadership with business planning and top supplier development initiatives
  • Work with SGM counterparts to improve and align global strategy for future programs
  • Support global/regional buyers with resolution of issues which require global leadership engagement
  • Keep abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
  • Adhere to corporate and unit purchasing and accounting practices and procedures
  • Utilize the GPSC sourcing process to manage sourcing packages (RFQ, Quote Analysis and Source Selection) and to establish a capable/competitive global supply base
  • Analyze and apply appropriate tools, i.e., benchmarking, global competitive sourcing, value chain analysis, supplier negotiations, engineering change cost containment, technical cost reduction, part/system reuse, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years relevant experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, engineering, logistics or product development
  • Developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
  • Experience leading the assessment and resolution of commercial issues with complex global suppliers and assessing supplier performance
  • Experience supporting executives in business planning activities and supplier development
  • Demonstrated competence in negotiation skills
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others and to collaborate cross-functionally across multiple regions
  • High level of analytical ability where problems can be complex
  • High level of capability to work independently
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Able to travel 10-15% of time domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA is preferred
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Understanding of program deliverables and profitability
  • Knowledge of materials management
  • Capable of interpreting market data
  • Able to understand basic engineering documents
  • Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
  • Ability to work globally, independently, and self-directed
