Lead Global Commodity Manager - Memory/Electrical

Overview We are seeking a full-time Lead Global Commodity Manager - Memory/Electrical at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for managing complex comprehensive strategic sourcing plans that create maximum benefits for the business. Essential Functions Responsible for commodity strategies related to electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical products and or services including: sourcing strategy, spend segmentation, supply market analysis, supplier capabilities assessment, supplier recruitment and management, RFI/P/Q development, developing a business case for improved supply and/or service, risk assessment and management, leading complex negotiations while managing assigned commodities or services across multiple global sitesDemonstrated leadership skills to drive the execution of supply chain strategies in a collaborative and multi-site matrix environment to achieve both tactical and strategic goalsCoach/mentor/serve as a leader to less experienced GCM’s and provide assistance to less experienced GCMs on managing their workloads and able to lead and motivate cross functional teams to achieve goalsDemonstrate a deep knowledge and understanding of Commodities ManagedProven track record of successful cost reduction initiatives and supplier relationship managementDemonstrate comprehensive knowledge of commodities and commodity market trends and serve as an expert in influencing, leading and driving project implementation of supply chain strategies and development of short- and long-term goals for management consideration in support of customer requirementsManage and lead for multi-site negotiations and executions of sourcing agreements for assigned commodities and/or servicesLead and negotiate complex strategic agreements and drive cost, quality, delivery and service improvements across multiple departments and sites continuouslyManage and lead extensive projects and meet timelinesUse analytical and qualitative methods to analyze market commodities and product dataDemonstrate comprehensive knowledge and serve as a technical leader for assigned commodities and supply chain servicesDemonstrate ability to contribute to the success of meetings and/or exceed departmental KPI’sOrganize, facilitate and manage cross-functional teams to develop commodity and service strategiesPartner and drive New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to ensure sourcing decisions achieve overall commodity objectives and all parts for prototype builds are available in advanceIdentify, lead and help drive technical root cause and corrective action for assigned product or service responsibilitiesAssure execution of Supplier Guidelines with responsible suppliers in support of various sitesAchieve positive peer and internal recognition within department and companyDemonstrate being a mature professional able to successfully carry out complex projects and/or participate in project leadershipDemonstrate support, mentoring and leadership of other Global Commodity ManagersDemonstrate support of other Strategic Supply Chain Mangers to maximize results Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a related Operations or Engineering field AND a minimum of 9 years directly demonstrated experience in managing commodities OR an equivalent combination of education and related supply chain experienceRequires extensive demonstrated experience managing commodities with Executive level relationshipsMust demonstrate strong verbal, written, negotiating, presenting and analytical skillsMust demonstrate a proven track record to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines across multiple time zonesDemonstrated proficient knowledge of the workings of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) softwareMust possess demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII)/Master Production Schedule (MPS) processDemonstrated comprehensive technical knowledge within the commodity managedDemonstrated extensive experience assessing requirements, negotiating and executing supply contracts and or service agreements with a focus on maximizing PPVAbility to travel domestically and internationallyDemonstrated comprehensive experience assessing all supply chain attributes with a focus on maximizing PPV over long term programsMust demonstrate an extensive proven knowledge and understanding of the global markets that impact the managed commodityMust demonstrate the ability to understand, analyze and use components of costs in driving cost savings and efficienciesMust demonstrate ability to act as a leader on the team by providing recommendations and guidance for less senior members on the teamDemonstrates ability to support, mentor and lead other Global Commodity Managers to maximize resultsAbility to quickly and efficiently identify new sources and technologies as requested by Engineering Design teams and perform advanced due diligence including technical capabilities, audits, commercial assessments, supply chain verification, capacity constraints and establishing a preferred customer statusDemonstrated ability to prepare for, coordinate, manage and execute QBR’s and Quarterly Negotiations Desired Qualifications Master’s Degree in an engineering field / Master’s Degree in an engineering field AND a minimum of 8 years’ demonstrated experience in managing commoditiesDemonstrated experience in managing commoditiesExtensive AOEM knowledge and consumer electronics experienceMultilingualPrevious experience in an electronics manufacturing
