Lead Global Commodity Manager - Memory/Electrical

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time Lead Global Commodity Manager - Memory/Electrical at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will manage complex, comprehensive strategic sourcing plans that create maximum benefits for the business.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute commodity strategies related to electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical products, and services, including sourcing strategy, spend segmentation, supply market analysis, supplier capabilities assessment, supplier recruitment and management, RFI/P/Q development, and business case development for improved supply or service.
• Lead complex negotiations and manage assigned commodities or services across multiple global sites.
• Drive the execution of supply chain strategies in a collaborative, multi-site matrix environment to achieve tactical and strategic goals.
• Mentor and lead less experienced Global Commodity Managers (GCMs) and cross-functional teams to achieve goals.
• Demonstrate deep knowledge of managed commodities and commodity market trends to influence and drive project implementation of supply chain strategies.
• Lead cost reduction initiatives and supplier relationship management.
• Manage and lead multi-site negotiations and executions of sourcing agreements for assigned commodities or services.
• Drive continuous improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and service across multiple departments and sites.
• Use analytical and qualitative methods to analyze market commodities and product data.
• Serve as a technical leader for assigned commodities and supply chain services.
• Organize, facilitate, and manage cross-functional teams to develop commodity and service strategies.
• Partner with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to ensure sourcing decisions align with commodity objectives and prototype build requirements.
• Identify, lead, and drive technical root cause analysis and corrective actions for assigned products or services.
• Ensure execution of Supplier Guidelines with responsible suppliers across various sites.
• Achieve positive peer and internal recognition within the department and company.
• Support and mentor other Strategic Supply Chain Managers to maximize results.
• Quickly identify new sources and technologies as requested by Engineering Design teams, performing due diligence including technical capabilities, audits, commercial assessments, and supply chain verification.
• Prepare for, coordinate, manage, and execute Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and negotiations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related Operations or Engineering field and a minimum of 9 years of directly demonstrated experience in managing commodities, or an equivalent combination of education and related supply chain experience.
• Extensive experience managing commodities with Executive-level relationships.
• Strong verbal, written, negotiating, presenting, and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize, organize, and multi-task in a flexible, fast-paced environment to meet deadlines across multiple time zones.
• Proficient knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII)/Master Production Schedule (MPS) processes.
• Comprehensive technical knowledge within the managed commodity.
• Extensive experience assessing requirements, negotiating, and executing supply contracts or service agreements with a focus on maximizing Purchase Price Variance (PPV).
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of global markets impacting the managed commodity.
• Ability to analyze and use components of costs to drive cost savings and efficiencies.
• Ability to act as a leader by providing recommendations and guidance to less senior team members.
• Ability to support, mentor, and lead other Global Commodity Managers to maximize results.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Master’s Degree in an engineering field and a minimum of 8 years of demonstrated experience in managing commodities.
• Extensive AOEM knowledge and consumer electronics experience.
• Multilingual abilities.
• Previous experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
