About the role
As a Senior Field Engineer, you are the primary technical owner for turn-key project delivery. This role demands proficiency with ALC and/or building automation systems and the flexibility to travel as project priorities shift. You will act as a trusted advisor to customers, mentor junior technicians, and ensure predictable, high-quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Own the install, commissioning, and troubleshooting of DDC systems, delivering full software solutions including sequencing, graphics, and alarms.
- Act as the lead technical resource and mentor for junior technicians.
- Partner with Project Managers to manage risk and align execution; coordinate with teams to ensure clear communication and reliable delivery.
- Travel as needed and stay adaptable to shifting priorities, project demands, and field workloads.
- Demonstrate deep proficiency with ALC products, system architectures, and ASHRAE guidelines to deliver safe, high-performance systems.
- Maintain expert-level documentation, including commissioning logs and progress tracking, to ensure safe and compliant system delivery.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in the Building Automation or HVAC Controls industry.
- Valid, current Driver’s License and insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
- Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as squatting and climbing for extended periods.
- Capable of working over 8 feet above grade and proficient in the use of ladders and motorized lift equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to act as a technical authority and mentor junior engineers in a collaborative field environment.
- Experience executing turnkey building automation solutions with minimal oversight, focusing on high-quality field execution and resource management.
- High skill-level proficiency in integrating diverse platforms and managing complex TCP/IP and wireless networking.
- Advanced diagnostic skills for resolving high-level technical challenges in controls, sensors, and software at the equipment and system level.
- Dedication to delivering site-specific technical training to building owners and operators while maintaining clear documentation.
Pay
The annual salary for this position is between $64,500.00 and $129,500.00. Factors which may affect pay within this range include skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may also be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
