About the role

The Lead Facilities Technician performs and leads general repair and maintenance of the company’s facilities and grounds. They coordinate work with service providers such as janitorial, plumbing, and other facilities-related vendors, and collaborate with the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to manage day-to-day staffing, materials, equipment, and resources. The role supports maintaining a neat, clean, and comfortable work environment for employees and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Facilities Technicians in fulfilling client requests and performing primary job responsibilities.
  • Provide feedback to Facilities management and oversee the work of facilities team members and contract vendors to ensure high-quality, timely maintenance.
  • Perform and/or lead regular checks and preventive maintenance on facilities-related equipment and systems.
  • Respond to scheduled and unscheduled service and repair requests, including plumbing, electrical issues, and repairs to walls, ceilings, flooring, doors, and other surfaces.
  • Monitor the work order system daily, coordinate work assignments, and reassign requests as needed to ensure timely completion.
  • Coordinate and carry out employee and department moves, as well as furniture reconfigurations.
  • Comply with state general industry safety orders, including safe work practices, personal protection, fire protection, lockout-tagout, hazardous materials handling, ladder safety, and other requirements. Enforce these standards within the team.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and relevant domestic and global quality regulations, standards, and procedures. Ensure team compliance with these requirements.
  • Understand and follow security, privacy, and compliance principles applicable to the Company.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with 6+ years of experience in facility maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and data systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools and work on a ladder.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and standard office tools.
  • Knowledge of state general industry safety orders applicable to facilities-related activities.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate with employees, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ability to comprehend English for understanding labels, instructions, job assignments, and progress reporting.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize assignments while managing multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industries.

Working Conditions

  • General office, warehouse, cleanroom, shipping and receiving environments, as well as roof and building exteriors.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals and blood-borne pathogens.
  • Requires unassisted lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work on-site with occasional business travel (0% - 10%).
  • Ability to move between buildings and floors.
  • Must be able to remain stationary and use computers or office equipment for extended periods.
  • Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets.
  • Must be able to access file cabinets or supplies and communicate daily with employees at all levels.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with potential variations including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay

Base pay range: $40.00 – $47.00 per hour, plus a 10% shift differential. Individual compensation varies based on qualifications, skill level, competencies, work location, shift, performance, and business needs.
