What You'll Do
- Operate laser, punch press, and other cutting equipment.
- Read blueprints and determine the most efficient cutting methods.
- Set up jobs, verify material requirements, and maintain quality standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment and production issues.
- Jump in wherever needed to keep production moving.
- Cook up daily workflow and priorities with the Production Manager.
- Assign work and balance workloads.
- Train and coach team members.
- Ensure quality standards are consistently met.
- Communicate production issues between departments.
- Maintain inventory of sheet steel and long products.
- Cook up preventive maintenance.
- 5+ years in metal fabrication or manufacturing.
- Experience operating laser, plasma, oxy-fuel, or CNC cutting equipment.
- A strong understanding of material handling and production flow.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring others.
- Experience scheduling work or coordinating production.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
