Lead Export Compliance Officer

About the role

As an Engineering Export Compliance Officer in a lead role, you will ensure Honeywell operates within export laws and regulations. You will provide export compliance guidance to business units and senior management, facilitating export-related matters to comply with all applicable export laws, regulations, and international trade controls. This position offers the opportunity to minimize risk and cost to the corporation while maintaining alignment with export compliance standards. You will report directly to the leader of the Jurisdiction and Classification (J&C) Team and work on a hybrid schedule from a Honeywell site.

In this role, you will use your engineering expertise to partner with technical and supply chain organizations across the enterprise to understand and classify products and technology, facilitating compliant exports and acquisitions between US and non-US entities, and enabling technical collaboration between international teams. You will add value by developing and improving export classification processes and tools to ensure efficient adherence to export regulations and support the organization’s goals by administering key elements of the J&C Program.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the development and implementation of export classification policies, procedures, tools, training, and documented guidance to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide guidance to business units on complex export compliance matters, primarily focusing on export classification-related issues.
• Advise management on export compliance risks and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
• Lead and support internal investigations to address potential export compliance violations and define and implement corrective actions, as necessary.
• Lead and support assessments of export classification determination accuracy and policy/procedure adherence to confirm the health of the Jurisdiction and Classification Program.
• Monitor changes in export regulations, communicate relevant updates to stakeholders, and manage actions to address impacts of regulatory changes.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure export compliance in business operations and transactions.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel and government agencies related to export compliance.

Requirements

• Engineering/technical expertise and experience.
• Knowledge of export regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR).
• Experience in performing export classification determinations.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work self-reliantly and manage multiple priorities.

• Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status) due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations.

Skills

• Knowledge of avionics, propulsion, and/or electronics.
• Experience working in a global manufacturing or technology company.
• Experience in the development of processes, tools, guidance, and training.
• Experience in conducting compliance investigations, audits, and assessments.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and delivering compliance training.
• Experience managing projects and using project management tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools Suite.

Pay

For candidates in MN, CA, and DC, the annual base salary range for this position is $113,000–$141,500. This salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations. This position is incentive eligible.
