Lead Estimator (North Bergen, NJ)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to help lead the daily operations of a large-scale, 45,000-square-foot commercial collision repair facility employing more than 40 production team members. This position serves as the critical link between customers, estimators, production staff, and management.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the repair process.
- Provide repair updates, manage expectations, and resolve customer concerns.
- Build and maintain relationships with fleet, commercial, transit, and municipal accounts.
- Conduct daily production meetings and coordinate workflow with the Shop Floor Manager.
- Prepare and review repair estimates, supplements, invoices, and documentation for accuracy and profitability.
- Identify additional repair needs and coordinate supplements with customers and insurers.
- Monitor repair progress, remove production bottlenecks, and support scheduling and resource planning.
- Affirm repair strategies and ensure compliance with company, customer, and insurer requirements.
- Coach and train team members while reinforcing company policies and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records and assist management with reporting and operational analysis.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of heavy vehicle collision repair and estimating.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and knowledge of shop workflow and production scheduling.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in both office and shop environments.
- Frequent walking and vehicle inspections.
- Ability to climb steps, access commercial vehicles, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
