Lead Enrollment Specialist
About the role
The Lead Enrollment Specialist serves as the senior technical and operational expert within Enrollment Services, responsible for performing complex commercial and government payor enrollment functions. These processes register providers and facilities with insurance payors to authorize billing and reimbursement. This role provides day-to-day functional leadership, coordination, and support for Enrollment Specialists, owning and executing non-professional/facility and provider enrollment activities across the system. The Lead Enrollment Specialist manages advanced and escalated provider enrollment issues, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness to support revenue cycle integrity, reduce billing delays, and mitigate reimbursement risk.
As a key subject matter expert, this role provides training, mentorship, and quality oversight. In partnership with the System Manager of Enrollment Services, the Lead Enrollment Specialist supports standardized workflows, monitors performance trends, and contributes to continuous process improvement. The position acts as a critical liaison between enrollment operations, revenue cycle, contracting, and operational stakeholders across the system.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex commercial and government payor enrollment functions for providers and facilities.
- Own, coordinate, and execute non-professional/facility and provider enrollment activities system-wide.
- Manage advanced and escalated provider enrollment issues.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of enrollment processes to support revenue cycle integrity.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing training, mentorship, and quality oversight to the team.
- Support implementation of standardized workflows and monitor performance trends.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between enrollment operations, revenue cycle, contracting, and operational stakeholders.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience (required).
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- CPES or similar certification (preferred).
Qualifications
- Minimum 4–5 years of provider enrollment experience.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing complex or escalated enrollment issues.
- Experience serving as a subject matter expert, trainer, or lead resource (strongly preferred).
- Direct experience with non-professional/facility enrollment (strongly preferred).
- Experience coordinating system-level or multi-entity enrollment activities (strongly preferred).
