About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Transmission Planning Engineer to join our Transmission Planning Department as a fully remote employee. Recognized by clients as an industry expert, you will play a critical role in establishing technical direction and philosophy for the Qualus organization. This position requires high technical competence and peer recognition within the company and industry.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an industry expert familiar with applicable NERC/FERC guidelines.
  • Establish technical direction and philosophy for Qualus.
  • Utilize load flow software such as TARA, PSSE, PSLF, and/or Powerworld.
  • Perform System Impact Studies and address Transmission Service Requests.
  • Run Steady State studies to simulate and analyze the performance of transmission and generation systems under normal and emergency operations.
  • Provide leadership by assigning, reviewing projects, and mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Delegate, plan, prioritize, and review the work of other consultants.
  • Justify strategy and analysis recommendations through documentation and data for various audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Four (4) to ten (10) years of engineering experience.
  • Experience running Steady State studies.
  • Knowledge of power system analysis and modeling techniques.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
