About the Role
The Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Equipment is responsible for the development and/or sourcing of manufacturing equipment to support manufacturing operations goals. Scope includes design and development of equipment, qualification, deployment to manufacturing, improving performance, and supporting programs to optimize efficiencies while maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, procurement, and implementation of off-the-shelf standard solutions and/or develop new standard automation solutions to support customer product manufacturing equipment needs.
- Plan and lead hardware and software improvements of automated lines and off-the-shelf equipment via analysis of Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and other available data.
- Own communications with multiple stakeholders, including solution providers for design, technical information, and specifications.
- Lead and solve complex technical problems and lead equipment validation activities such as Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
- Develop maintenance plans and oversee and/or execute activities to achieve target performance.
- Be accountable for the performance, maintenance, and OEE improvements for multiple machines within a value stream.
- Support customer product roadmap using Celestica Automation E2E process and tools such as User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Design for Automation Assembly (DFAA) and PM workbook.
- Drive problem solving and corrective actions related to causes of machine failures, speed loss, or quality issues.
- Work with Process Engineering to ensure equipment is statistically capable of meeting product manufacturing requirements.
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of related experience in similar job roles.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational requirements may vary by geography.

Physical Demands
- Duties performed in a normal office environment.
- May require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
