About the role

The Role
Entegris is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Process Engineering & Automation to join their Manufacturing Engineering team. Based in Aurora, Illinois, this position will lead process engineering, industrial automation, and SCADA initiatives to improve safety, quality, throughput, and operational reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead major process improvement and capital projects from concept and equipment design through process flow verification, qualification, validation, and production ramp-up.
  • Drive localization of proven manufacturing processes, products, equipment, and automation solutions from other Entegris sites into the Aurora facility.
  • Lead automation projects from proposal and justification through vendor engagement, capital execution, commissioning, and sustained operational performance.
  • Design, qualify, troubleshoot, and support PLC and SCADA architectures in partnership with controls engineering, including backup support for site control systems.
  • Apply robust Management of Change practices to ensure process and equipment changes are evaluated, documented, implemented, and sustained in compliance with safety and quality requirements.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop manufacturing engineers by providing technical guidance, feedback, and opportunities to build leadership depth across the team.
  • Provide operational leadership in the Senior Manager’s absence by keeping critical initiatives moving and serving as a trusted point of contact for Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience in process engineering or manufacturing engineering, preferably in a high-tech manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven ownership of capital projects, including scope development, budget management, vendor coordination, installation, validation, and production handoff.
  • Strong project management capability, including schedule ownership, risk mitigation, cross-functional alignment, and contractor or supplier management.
  • Working knowledge of Management of Change practices and the ability to apply structured change control in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong automation fundamentals with experience or exposure to PLC, SCADA, HMI, or batch process control systems; GE Proficy iFIX, ISA S88, or advanced PLC programming experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence cross-functional teams, and operate as part of a leadership pipeline; advanced degree, PMP, Six Sigma, or formal leadership development experience is preferred.
