Are you a licensed general supervising electrician looking for meaningful work that makes a difference? Join ODOT and use your expertise to help keep Oregon's transportation system safe and reliable. In this role, you'll perform electrical work, oversee and mentor electricians, sign off on completed jobs, obtain required permits, and help plan and deliver electrical projects. You'll also troubleshoot complex technical issues, recommend materials and equipment, and assist the development of your team.

This position works with a regional ODOT maintenance crew responsible for maintaining the highway system throughout Coos and Douglas counties, as well as portions of Jackson, Josephine, and Klamath counties. Every day, your work directly assists ODOT's mission to provide a safe and efficient transportation system for all Oregonians.

The goal of this recruitment is to fill this position at an Electrician 3 level. However, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for an Electrician 2 ($5,988 - $7,968) to apply, as we may consider underfilling the position until the selected candidate meets the minimum qualifications for an Electrician 3. Underfill training will not exceed three years.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair highway electrical systems, including illumination on poles up to 110 feet, underground and overhead lighting systems, control circuits, traffic signal controllers, flashing beacons, ramp meters, variable message signs, road weather information systems, traffic count systems, and roadway video/camera systems.
• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal systems, including field wiring, traffic detection circuits, signal components, sign illumination, and related electrical equipment.
• Maintain and repair electrical systems at buildings and facilities, including power services, distribution panels, branch circuits, lighting fixtures, motor controls, fuel pump systems, ventilation equipment, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning controls.
• Perform electrical maintenance for bridges, including waterway navigation lights, automatic lamp rotation systems, aviation warning beacons, drawbridge controls, and communication circuits.
• Maintain electrical systems at rest areas and landscaping facilities, including potable water, irrigation and wastewater pump controls, permanent and temporary power services, and underground and overhead feeder circuits.
• Locate and identify underground electrical lines for roadway lighting, traffic signals, and other ODOT-owned electrical systems.
• Manage daily operations by maintaining material inventory, documenting work activities, addressing signal calls and complaints, assisting partner agencies, participating in emergency activities, and completing required continuing education.
• Work as part of a team by participating in meetings, advancing team initiatives, providing feedback, and maintaining professional relationships with employees, partners, and the public while contributing to a safe and productive work environment.
• Perform physically demanding work in a variety of environments, including heavy traffic areas, construction zones, uneven terrain, confined spaces, and elevated work locations.
• Operate vehicles and equipment, maintain a valid Class B CDL, follow safety requirements, and handle emergency callouts, including rotating, night, or on-call assignments as needed.

Requirements

• For Electrician 3: A General Supervising Electrical license.
• For Electrician 2: A General Journeyman Electrical license.
• Possess a current, valid commercial driver's license B (CDL-B), with no air brake restrictions, no 5th wheel restrictions, and no manual transmission restrictions, OR have the ability to acquire a Class B within 60 days of hire.
• A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position.
• This position requires a maximum 45-minute response time to 3339 Old Hwy. 99 S., Roseburg, OR 97471 for emergency call-outs.

Qualifications

Pay

Comprehensive and equitable base salary offer within the listed range of $6,581 - $8,764 per month. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6.95%.
