About the role

kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP company, is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to support our Milwaukee, WI office. Candidates may sit in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will design complex power and other building systems, lead projects and teams, and provide technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex power and other building systems including generator plants, medium voltage distribution, uninterruptible power systems, lighting, fire alarm, and grounding
  • Lead projects and a team of electrical engineers
  • Develop work plans to address technical issues within project time and budget
  • Manage and coordinate project teams and projects
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Participate in local professional organizations
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct
  • Comply with WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Upkeep workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with electrical building systems emphasis or 11+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
  • 7+ years of experience in designing electrical systems for high performing, commercial, industrial or mission critical/data center buildings
  • Previous experience as a lead project electrical engineer capable of directing the project team
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact well with others
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems and codes
  • Attention to detail, highly organized, self-starter

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Enhancing credentials (LEED, Uptime ATD, etc.) preferred
  • Mission Critical/Data Center experience
  • Experience with the analysis and modeling of short circuit coordination and arc flash studies
  • Experience with international projects and knowledge of international codes and standards
