  • Ensure all engineering deliverables meet utility, client and regulatory requirements (NESC, NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, ERCOT Standards etc).
  • Act as the primary technical interface with U.S based clients, consultants, and utilities during both pre-construction and delivery phases.
  • Provide technical governance and peer review of design outputs to ensure compliance with U.S codes, standards, and client-specific requirements.
  • Support Business Development and Pre Construction teams in the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model – including preliminary layouts, grid feasibility, and technical scoping.
  • Collaborate with H&MV global engineering centres to localise and adapt design methodologies for the U.S market.
  • Capture and share project learnings and regulatory insights to help inform the broader U.S market strategy.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, technical rigor, and continuous improvement.
  • Grow, manage and lead a team of engineers in the design and construction of HV substations.
  • Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) within the engineering team.
  • Enhance project delivery by fostering excellence in engineering practices.
  • Facilitate effective communication among Project Managers and Site Managers to incorporate real-time feedback into project designs.
  • Empower project engineers, reinforcing their responsibility for the engineering outputs of their projects.
  • Contribute to the lessons learned log, ensuring it is regularly updated to enhance project outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred).
  • 5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering within utility-scale or high-voltage EPC environments.
  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and external consultants an advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. transmission/distribution infrastructure and regional standards (e.g. ERCOT interconnection process).
  • Experience delivering turnkey substations, HV grid projects (138 kV–345 kV), and associated control/protection systems.
