About the role
Eaton’s Engineering Service & Systems Division is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join their team. The Switchgear Modernization division of EESS designs and manufactures custom solutions that allow for the modernization of both LV and MV equipment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute design projects, ensuring compliance with internal processes and standards
- Aid in the creation and approval of electrical drawings, including electric schematics, wiring diagrams, and three-line diagrams for distribution and control products to include medium & low voltage assemblies, RPR2, components, and all associated components
- Work closely with the engineering team to coordinate design activities, resolve technical issues, and facilitate knowledge sharing for products
- Collaborate with the operations team to support seamless product release and industrialization for customer orders, addressing manufacturability and assembly requirements
- Participate in and lead design reviews, technical discussions, and cross-functional meetings to ensure project objectives are met
- Guide engineering teams in interpreting complex customer requirements and translating them into existing or new designs
- Schedule and perform design verification/validation testing adhering to low and medium voltage standards
- Create technical reports, functional specifications and presentations for design solutions
- Support prototype build, testing and delivery of products to the customer
- Drive and manage product releases in product lifecycle management software, ensuring accurate documentation, configuration control, and timely delivery of product data to downstream teams
- Coordinate all UL design and certification testing
- Stay current with the latest technological trends and apply knowledge to the development of low and medium voltage products
- Provide support to management on technical direction of projects and processes
- Coach and develop engineering talent; deliver technical training across departments
- Identify and implement best practices for design, leveraging global resources and partners as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
- Minimum of five (5) years electrical industry work experience
- No relocation is being offered. Candidate must reside within a 50 mile radius of Greenwood, SC to be considered
- Active duty military candidates are exempt from this restriction
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
- Five (5) years industry work experience in electrical product development
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, specifically Enovia
- Three (3) years of engineering experience with new product development or design, preferably in Medium Voltage products
- Experience in model-based design and simulation techniques for various aspects of system design
- Experience with product industrialization, including process validation, manufacturing support, and customer order fulfillment
- Ability to read schematics and interpret the behavior of electronic systems
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot analog and digital control circuitry
- Familiarity with common tools and methods to work in high power lab
Skills
- Ability to lead electrical engineer aspects of projects from inception to qualification

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with management, engineering peers, and operations personnel

- Technical expertise in electrical engineering design, product release processes, and industrialization support for switchgear or similar products
- Proficient in 3D modeling software (e.g., AutoDesk Inventor) and PLM tools
- Experience with mechanical hardware associated with electrical equipment
