Lead Electrical Engineer
Position Overview
The primary function of this position is to lead electrical /electronics development supporting design, analysis, and testing. The individual will be responsible for leading Oxygen projects consisting of development of electrical and electronics hardware. This includes development of requirements, adherence to local and industry processes and standards, design direction, analysis, and verification. This individual will be seen as a subject matter expert within the team, taking on the most complex projects and providing oversight to projects within the Oxygen team, along with providing mentoring to fellow engineers. This role can be involved in all aspects of product engineering including new product introduction, product support, bid and proposal, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Provides support to management on technical direction of projects and processes.
- Participates in technology roadmap development
- Designs and ensures adherence to MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, and DO-160 requirements as applicable.
- Applies Design for Six Sigma tools and methods to drive product robustness
- Uses and champions structured problem-solving technique, such as 8Ds, with strong communication/presentation skills for reporting status to customers and/or senior management.
- Actively engages engineering team members to evaluate design ideas, provide mentoring, and support successful product development
- Attends internal design reviews conducted by the team or other engineering design teams, as a subject matter expert.
- Prepares and conducts design reviews and RCCA report-outs directly with customer.
- Engages in engineering proposals, selecting the best design concept solution including compliance to customer specifications and industry regulatory requirements.
- Estimates electrical engineering effort required for new projects and outlines the proposed design concept accurately enough for project and unit cost to be estimated.
- Develops relationships with Eaton’s global engineering teams and leverages the team for execution on programs, development of skills, sharing of best practices, and enhancement of processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience with electrical hardware and electronics design.
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited program. 7 years of Electrical Engineering experience.
- 5 years experience as a leader of product development efforts with requirements development, validation, and verification, direct customer engagement, technical solutions development, systems documentation, and root cause problem solving.
- Experience with PCB design and analysis preferred.
- Knowledge of aerospace component test methods and capabilities.
- Knowledge of standard aerospace manufacturing processes and ability to design for manufacturability.
- Experience with Structured Problem Solving practices including the use of Six Sigma methods.
Skills
- Experience with electronic design and analysis.
- Experience with mechanical hardware associated with electrical equipment.
- Experience with testing and evaluation of electronics.
- Experience with engineering processes/tools required.
- Experience with technology development and integration into new products required.
- Ability to lead electrical engineering aspects of projects from inception to qualification.
- Ability to lead product investigations using structured problem solving techniques.
- Experience with RTCA DO-254 preferred.
- Experience with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), electromagnetic interference (EMI), EMI/EMC testing & analysis preferred.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication presentation skills and the ability to work well with customers and development team members.
- Ability to build strong cross functional working relationships.
- Ability to mentor engineers.
Pay
The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
