Job Summary
We are seeking a Lead Electrical – Construction & Commissioning to provide technical and field leadership for electrical construction, commissioning, and startup activities on a major power generation project. This position will oversee electrical field execution, coordinate with EPC, engineering, quality, OEM, and operations teams, and ensure electrical systems are safely installed, tested, energized, commissioned, and successfully turned over to operations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead electrical construction, commissioning, testing, energization, and startup activities.
- Oversee installation and verification of HV/MV systems, switchgear, MCCs, generators, transformers, electrical distribution, grounding, and associated electrical systems.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, work packages, test procedures, and energization plans.
- Cook up cable megger testing, transformer testing, protective relay testing, functional testing, loop checks, and system energization.
- Lead troubleshooting of complex electrical issues and coordinate corrective actions with engineering, OEMs, contractors, and specialty testing providers.
- Cook up coordination of electrical contractors, manpower, schedules, and resources while tracking progress against project milestones.
- Ensure electrical activities comply with applicable codes, NFPA 70E, LOTO requirements, project safety programs, and quality standards.
- Support inspection, punch-list resolution, turnover documentation, startup readiness, and final system handover.
Job Requirements
- Strong knowledge of HV/MV distribution, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, generator systems, and protective relaying.
- Experience with electrical testing, system commissioning, energization procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of DCS, PLC, motor control, and SCADA interfaces.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, test procedures, and OEM documentation.
- Experience leading electrical contractors and coordinating field execution on large industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety, LOTO, quality control, planning, and scheduling.
Education / Experience
- Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent electrical trade experience required.
- 10+ years of industrial electrical experience with 5+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Power generation and utility-scale electrical systems experience required.
- Combined-cycle, EPC, substation, and switchyard experience preferred.
- Generator and gas turbine electrical systems experience preferred.
- NETA testing knowledge, OSHA 30, and Journeyman/Master Electrician or equivalent credentials preferred.
