About the role
Leidos is seeking a Lead Distribution Engineer in the Kansas City, MO area who is passionate about electric utility design engineering. The role involves direct client interaction to ensure high-quality work standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing team’s design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers
- Develop work packages for overhead, underground, rural distribution, make-ready, and street light projects
- Collaborate with other design leads on client issues including schedule adherence and quality control
- Manage scope, schedule, and budget of assigned work
- Perform scope analysis and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities
- Review engineering design packages with clients
- Initiate continuous improvement to workflow processes that drive efficiency and high-quality standards in client design deliverables
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assess and develop large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW applications
- Comfortable in both field and office settings: the role may require some customer-site visits to collect field data
Requirements
- 4+ years of prior relevant experience
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited program/institution; additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
- Some prior experience with structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills

Pay
The pay range for this role is $73,450.00 - $132,775.00.
Schedule
This position has remote-working capabilities, but candidates must be located within a commutable distance of Kansas City, MO in order to be considered, so we can provide support to our local utility customer as needed.
