Lead Direct Support Professional / DSP / Caregiver

About the role

Deliver person-centered care and services to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Assist in developing and delivering holistic individual support plans, helping people achieve personal goals, providing community interaction and choices, supporting spiritual needs, and encouraging independence in daily living and personal care.

Coordinate activities and programming through staff development, individual support plans, and collaboration under the manager’s direction. Serve as a resource for day-to-day guidance and provide backup to the manager.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the Individual Support Plan (ISP) maximizes quality of life, supporting engaging activities to enhance daily living, personal goals, and spiritual supports.
• Write and enter service delivery documentation; support others in system entry.
• Maintain general event reporting (GER) aligned with medical orders, state compliance, abuse reporting, court orders, and AbleLight’s quality procedures.
• Deliver holistic, person-centered care with dignity and respect, following the ISP.
• Provide personal care (bathing, dressing, bathroom assistance, housekeeping), prepare meals according to diet plans, and administer medication under nurse supervision.
• Schedule and transport individuals to medical appointments, outings, or errands.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in continuing education.
• Conduct audits of health appointments, ISPs, medical supplies, prescriptions, and monthly facility audits.
• Order food and supplies; allocate receipts to house and program financials.
• Serve as a front-line resource for DSP colleagues, individuals supported, parents, and guardians.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Direct Support Professional or related role working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• 6 months or more of leadership experience preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and clear driving record.
• Cleared and approved criminal record check.
• First Aid/CPR certified.
• Ability to assist with a two-person lift of an adult.
• Ability to stand for eight (8) hours at a time.

Schedule

Wednesday 3:00 PM–7:00 PM, Thursday–Saturday 7:30 PM–7:30 AM.

Pay

$22.00–$25.50/hour, based on experience.
