LEAD DESIGNER - DESIGN

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on PHP professional with deep expertise in core PHP, MVC architecture, and open-source e-commerce platforms, particularly Magento. The ideal candidate will have advanced skills in module development, customization, and performance tuning for large-scale e-commerce applications managing thousands of products and a large client base.

Responsibilities

• Develop, customize, and optimize e-commerce solutions using PHP (Core/MVC) and Magento.
• Work independently with clients in the US and European regions, often across different time zones.
• Design and implement marketing-oriented e-commerce systems to drive sales.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, document resolution steps, and collaborate with development teams.
• Manage and optimize large-scale e-commerce applications with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Develop REST APIs and work with XML-based web services.
• Collaborate on UI/UX design for mobile apps, web apps, and digital content.

Requirements

• Strong experience with PHP (Core/MVC) and Magento (module development, customization, and performance tuning).
• Proficiency in OOP, databases, and MVC patterns.
• Experience with large-scale e-commerce applications handling thousands of products and a large client base.
• Familiarity with PHP frameworks such as Yii, Zend2, or Laravel (4/5) is a plus.
• Understanding of Magento’s code structure, extension architecture, theme hierarchy, and fallback components.
• Knowledge of other e-commerce platforms like OpenCart, osCommerce, Shopify, or BigCommerce is beneficial.
• Strong foundation in REST APIs and XML.
• Exceptional MySQL skills and experience with agile/test-driven development.
• Expertise in Angular, HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery), and DIV-based layouts.
• In-depth knowledge of OOP and web standards.
• Experience with Linux, Apache, and web server environments.
• Familiarity with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD tools, monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix), and virtualization/containers.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, including well-known gems and plugins, is a plus.
• Strong networking knowledge (DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, SSH, FTP, SFTP, HTTP/HTTPS).
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Willingness to work in different time zones than your home country.
