About the Role

As a Lead Design Specialist, you will own all New Product Development, Product Improvement, and Sustaining Changes for a given product line. You will advise on complex design and engineering decisions, maintain project schedules, and delegate work to the supporting design team. Collaborating with Product Design Managers, you will ensure initiatives are completed accurately, to the highest standard, and in a timely manner. This role includes mentoring junior team members and implementing process improvements. This is a remote position for US-based candidates; sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Display leadership as an individual contributor.
  • Perform design tasks with or without engineering data to generate finished drawings by other drafters.
  • Assign and manage work within the product area to meet deadlines while developing team design skills.
  • Guide and mentor other drafters in product design.
  • Maintain contact with manufacturing engineers to ensure optimal design from a manufacturing standpoint.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee design/drafting activities for general design assignments, delegating tasks to provide development opportunities.
  • Report on project progress in written and verbal form to engineering, management, customers, and suppliers.
  • Serve as a technical member of engineering project teams, engineering change teams, or material review boards.
  • Prepare company standards and procedures.
  • Recommend best practices within design specialty to engineers and create documentation to streamline processes and reduce design-to-market time.
  • Develop and implement global design process standards with other design centers.
  • Investigate and recommend new CAD and design hardware/software.
  • Assist engineers with task-level duties, including chiller component selection, weight distributions, airflow calculations, heat transfer calculations, and electromechanical systems.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of CREO modeling expertise.
  • Experience with large mechanical assembly design.
  • Basic understanding of team leadership qualities/practices.
  • US citizen and/or permanent resident of the US.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Windchill PLM experience.
  • Pro-Piping module expertise.
  • Chiller and/or HVAC/R industry experience.

Pay

Hiring hourly range: $45.00/hr – $52.00/hr. The rate will be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment.
