About the role
This role is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the department operations in a retail store. The primary responsibilities include managing inventory, overseeing team performance, and ensuring compliance with company standards and goals.
Responsibilities
- Order and maintain inventory in the department, adhering to inventory control procedures.
- Review and validate received orders for accuracy, ensuring product freshness and quality.
- Manage a team to complete stocking, production, and other tasks, ensuring product quality, accuracy, and date-sensitive rotation.
- Maintain familiarity with all products in the department and throughout the store.
- Communicate and execute weekly and period Flight Plans to meet company expectations and timeline.
- Support the department manager in implementing and maintaining work schedules, labor control, overtime control, and payroll expense.
- Implement the Winning Recipe and model core values and competencies.
- Develop and monitor department goals and forecasts, as required.
- Attend and participate in daily huddles, manager meetings, and other company-level meetings.
- Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department, following structure of the day guidelines and Prime Time standards.
- Ensure adherence to food safety guidelines and take immediate corrective action if not followed.
- Support the department manager in developing and implementing plans to meet company goals and key performance indicators.
Requirements
- High School Graduate (or equivalent GED).
- 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
- Good organizational, prioritization, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
- Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
- Knowledge of retail store operations and retail management systems.
- Suggestive selling/knowledge of products preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate in Spanish highly desirable, depending on company location.
Physical Requirements
The associate is required to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently. The work environment includes varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions. Noise levels are usually low to moderate. The associate may be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
